Getting married at the Lake of the Falls

An helicopter elopement love story

M&N began their day at a quiet, free campsite near the serene waters of Abraham Lake. As the first light of sunrise painted the Rockies in soft gold and pink, they drove to the Rockies Heli Canada basecamp — the starting point of their unforgettable adventure. This is where we met them for their big day.

They wanted a simple, symbolic ceremony, intimate and free from the need for an officiant or witnesses. (If a legal ceremony is desired, the pilot and I can step in as witnesses.) At the basecamp, they slipped into their wedding attire in a cozy back room, the excitement of the day unfolding around them, before heading toward the waiting helicopters.

We soared above valleys and peaks until we reached a secluded high perch. Below, the lake mirrored the sky, and the valley stretched endlessly around them. There, surrounded by towering mountains and whispering winds, M&N exchanged vows — a quiet, magical promise in a world that felt like it belonged only to them. We captured fleeting, golden moments as light danced on the peaks and water, freezing the magic forever.

Once back at the heli base, we returned to their campsite to celebrate with a cake cutting and more playful photos, letting the day wind down surrounded by nature, laughter, and the soft glow of the Rockies at sunset.

PS: There is tons of locations where you could do a helicopter elopement, including Alaska (on a glacier), New Zealand (near Roy’s peak), Iceland (glacier)… and so much more! I am planning to go to Iceland in August this year so reach out if you are interested!!
